Access Statement

Outlined below is information we hope will assist to ensure you enjoy your visit to the Manor House Hotel, regardless of whether your life is affected in some way by a medical condition, disability, impairment, or specific learning difficulty.

Prior to your arrival:

Enquiries and reservations may be made by phone, fax, letter, email, through our website or the many online booking agents supplying the hotel.

Should you require a taxi to the hotel from Alsager Station (2-minute drive), Crewe Station (15-minute drive) or Manchester Airport (60-minute drive), we use a reliable company on a regular basis and we would be delighted to book them on your behalf. They do have vehicles suitable for wheelchair users if required, with appropriate notice.

On arrival at the hotel:

We have a designated disabled parking area at the front of the hotel along with ample additional car parking.

Entrance to the hotel is by way of three small steps. For wheelchair users, a purpose-built gentle slope leads to the main door.

We are pleased to assist you with your luggage and will collect it from your car and deliver it to your room if preferred.

Reception area:

The reception area floor is both carpeted or tiled throughout and suitable for wheelchairs. In the centre of reception is a seating area surrounded by marble tiles.

Reception is all on one level.

We do not have a low-level desk area but can register you unobtrusively at one of the coffee tables in reception if preferred or seating can be provided at the reception desk.

There are doors from reception to Stables Bar & Grill and the Alsager Conference Suite; these are held open on automatic fire door closers.

Public areas:

Our corridors are well lit and carpeted throughout.


Our disabled access toilet is situated on the ground floor in the Reception area and is easily accessed from Stables Bar and the Alsager Suite. There are four other sets of toilets in total.

Baby changing facilities are available in the disabled toilet in Reception and also the changing rooms for the swimming pool.


Many bedrooms are located on the ground floor, with level access and reasonably large bathrooms.

We have 2 adapted bedrooms and bathrooms.

The hotel is assessed as Mobility level 1 under the National Accessible Scheme.

All bedroom doors are wide enough for wheelchairs / Zimmer frames/pushchairs.

There is good contrast between walls, doors and floors in rooms designated for guests with visual impairment.

Remote controls are provided for all televisions.

Stables Bar & Grill:

Stables Bar and Grill is our onsite restaurant. Full waiter service is available.

There is ample moveable seating and we provide chairs with or without arms.

We play background music in Stables Bar and have a television in the bar area.

All areas are well lit.

Stables Bar has wooden flooring throughout and tables are unclothed.

Menus can be photocopied up to large print if necessary or we can read through the menu with you if required.

If necessary, breakfast (which is served in the Upstairs part of Stables Bar & Grill) can be, and often is for those with difficulty negotiating stairs, served in the downstairs part Stables Bar.

    Does have a lift access.

There is ample moveable seating and we have chairs without arms.

Conference & Banqueting suites:

Our conference rooms are on two levels; three rooms are on the ground floor and one room, the Oakhanger, is on the first floor. There is no lift available to the first floor.

The main Alsager Suite is on the ground floor, close to Reception and is on one level. The Alsager suite divides into three rooms, the Audley, Betley and Lawton rooms.

All floor surfaces are carpeted and suitable for wheelchairs.

All corridors and public areas are well lit.

All doors and corridors are wide enough for wheelchairs / zimmer frames/pushchairs.

A disabled toilet is available on the ground floor.

Fire Alarm:

The audible fire alarm system is a continuously ringing bell. The system does not have flashing lights. Assistance is given if evacuation is necessary.

The bells will ring continuously if evacuation is needed. If you require assistance for evacuating, please notify us on arrival.

Two “Refuge Points” are located on the ground floor of the hotel.

Two “vibrating pillow” units available from reception to assist those with hearing impairment. The units have a flashing light and vibrating pad to locate under a pillow.

Various fire exits are located throughout the building and all guest bedrooms have location maps on the inside of the main door showing the proximity of the fire exit to the bedroom.

The front door is locked at night but can be used for emergency evacuation.

Swimming Pool Area:

The swimming pool changing rooms are accessible by 3 small steps – assistance negotiating these can be given if required.

The swimming pool itself is accessible by a small set of steps which also has a grab rail to assist access.

Access to the Swimming Pool Hall can be made via a fire exit door on a flat level if required. Staff assistance will be given.

The swimming pool does not have a lifeguard and is covered by CCTV monitoring which is recorded and periodically checked for safety.

A telephone is located poolside to alert reception in the event of an emergency

Additional information:

Telephone numbers for taxi, doctor, hospital and dentist are available from reception.

Mobile phone reception is strong with all networks available.

Service dogs (only) are welcome.

We do not provide fridges in the bedrooms but will happily give safe storage in a hotel refrigerator for medication, upon request. Access to this medication would be through a member of the hotel staff.

When a guest has a specific request, we will endeavour to accommodate this as far as is reasonably practical.

Every effort has been made to ensure guests and visitors with disabilities are fully accommodated in line with current legislation.
